The striking patio with outdoor fireplace design pictured below features random ashlar stone work that extends to a series of arches outlining the perimeter of the patio. Highly decorative iron balustrades span the area between the arches.
Pictured at right is a beautiful brick patio with
trellising
to support climb- ing plants such as ivy and grapevine. Despite its elaborate look, the trellis- ing is made from simple and inexpen- sive
latticework
that can be pur- chased from almost any lumberyard or home and garden store. At the rear of the patio is a formal French mantel and overmantel, or trumeau, made of stone.
The striking patio and fireplace design that follows was created by Green Scene Landscape, based in Northridge, California. A stunning ivy-draped
pergola
covers the patio area, which extends along the side of an adjacent swimming pool. The finely crafted stone fireplace features an arched fire- box opening flanked by a pair of similar openings used to provide storage for firewood.
The aqua blue lake pictured at right features a quaint stone
gazebo
along its secluded banks. Complete with a stone outdoor fireplace, the roof of this lovely little structure is support- ed by a series of stone arches.
Pictured below is another stunning creation from Green Scene Landscape. A large poolside
pavilion
and adjacent balustrades feature classically in- spired detailing. Beneath the pavilion's ornate roof of decorative open metalwork rests a majestic precast stone fireplace design.
The patio ideas that follow are in- spired by the architecture of the American Desert Southwest. Pic- tured at right is a Kiva fireplace design with a Southwestern style pergola overhead.

architec- ture. Clay barrel tiles cover the roof of the open air pavilion at right, as well as the "roof" of the chimney over the fireplace. The striking lime- stone fireplace design pictured below was crafted by Ol' Yeller Landscaping near Austin, Texas. Colorful tiles sur- round the firebox opening, as well as the two built-in storage areas that flank the firebox.
The poolside patio design pictured at right features a lovely see-through fireplace with a waterfall above the firebox opening that spills into the pool. A stone chimney above the fireplace pierces the roof over the patio.
