Patio
pergolas
for outdoor fireplaces can be as simple or complex as your creativity and budget will allow. For example, though elegant in its simplic- ity, the painted wood pergola pictured at left is crafted from readily available stock lumber and is relatively inexpen- sive to build.
On the other hand, the stunning design in the two images that follow was custom made by Green Scene Landscaping -- one of the premier landscape and design firms in the United States -- based in Northridge, California. The striking stone fireplace is covered with an elaborate, ivy-draped pergola that extends along the entire length of the swimming pool!
The patio pergola with Tuscan col- umns and stone fireplace pictured at right and below was created by another premier landscape and de- sign firm in the United States. Lo- cated on the east coast in Ber- nardsville, New Jersey, Landscape Aesthetics has a fine repertoire of patio designs to its credit. Note the built-in storage areas for wood that flank the firebox open- ing.
Once again, the stunning poolside design that follows was created by Landscape Aesthetics. It features an unusual -- albeit striking -- semi- circular firebox opening, as well as a finely crafted stained pergola.
The
Craftsman Style
pergola and tiled fireplace pictured below was created by Exterior Specialty Construction, based in Sunland, California. Note the built-in seating near the fireplace, as well as the Craftsman Style lighting and furnishings used to tie it all together.
The striking arched patio pergola design that follows comes in kit form and, if you are a do-it-yourselfer, you can assemble it yourself. Called the "Sonoma," it comes in a few different sizes and is available with a wide va- riety of options from The Outdoor Greatroom Company, formerly Fire Stone Home Products, based in Eagan, Minnesota, USA.
Additionally, the prefab fireplace pictured below -- also called the "Sonoma" -- is available from The Outdoor Greatroom Company. A gas-fueled design, it features an arched firebox opening and can be custom finished.
Another striking pergola design in kit form from The Outdoor Greatroom Company is the "Tuscany," pictured below. It features a beam arbor sup- ported by classic fluted columns.
The sleek contemporary design that follows is from K. H. Webb Architects, based in Vail, Colorado. It features a soaring stone fireplace and a large pergola crafted from wood and metal.
The remaining images feature pool- side patio designs. The small but elegant pergola pictured at right provides a perfect "frame" for the handsome stone fireplace behind it.
The sprawling design that follows is from Landscape Aesthetics and was featured in a close-up photo near the top of this page. Note the natural looking waterfall and the use of numerous large boulders, strategically placed, to give the overall composition somewhat of a rugged wilderness look and feel.
In stark contrast to the design above, the stunning patio pergola and high style stone fireplace pictured below are very formal in appearance. Note the beautiful symmetry and elegance of the design, including a grand set of stairs that leads to the elevated patio deck or terrace beneath the per- gola.
